Opera Theatre of Montclair Presents Opera, Champagne & A Little Jazz on Saturday, April 12, 2014
NOTE: This event has passed, but we want to share several stories that have come out of this great night.
GRATITUDE: Opera Theatre of Montclair has been the recipient of great acts of unexpected goodwill. During our fundraising event "Opera, Champagne & A Little Jazz", we met lots of wonderful new supporters of our company. Early in the evening, we were introduced to Professor Lori McCann, Acting Chair of the Voice Department at the Cali School of Music. Lori brought her father along, a life-long opera fan. Before the evening had ended, Michael McCann bestowed an extremely generous gift upon OTM. We cannot begin to express our gratitude. Not only this, but Mike is now actively assisting in helping OTM find an appropriate venue for our fall production of Verdi's "Nabucco". THANK YOU!!!!!
GRATITUDE: There truly are angels among us.....Opera Theatre of Montclair had a great time performing at the Montclair2014 Winter Festival on February 1. Little did we know at the time that a major benefactor would be entering our lives. The very next week, we received an introductory email from Brian Cattell. He had been wandering around Park Street with his two-year-old daughter at the very moment of our Magic Flute performance. Brian, a long-time opera fan originally from London, wanted to know how he could help the company. As a result, we followed up with his lovely wife, Christina, and planned a fundraising event at their gorgeous home. This concert party took place last night. Brian and Christina donated their space as well as catering and inviting new potential donors. Their extreme hospitality has led to OTM reaching its initial fundraising goal so we can begin the process of planning our first full production. We are eternally grateful for their generosity and hope to have a long fruitful friendship.
Come support Opera Theatre of Montclair while having a fun evening of food, champagne and music. On Saturday, April 12, 8-11 PM, Brian and Christina Cattell are graciously opening their lovely 1917 Craftsman Colonial Montclair home for this event. Harpist Violetta Norrie will play the first 45 minutes while guests arrive. The acclaimed jazz duo DYAD (Eric Olsen, piano, and Lou Caimano, alto saxophone) will open the formal program with arrangements from their new CD,
DYAD Plays Puccini. OTM sopranos, Rosa D'Imperio, La Toya Lewis and Mia Riker-Norrie, and baritone Jim Pierce will be accompanied by Rebecca Eng, piano, in arias and ensembles by Bellini, Gershwin, Massenet, Mozart, Verdi and Wagner. There will be an auction of voice lessons and private performances. Advance tickets are HIGHLY recommended as space is limited. $40.00 entitles you to our three-hour opera party including food - provided by Church Street Catering - champagne, fun company, live jazz and operatic performances in one of Montclair's historic homes. Plus you will be helping to establish an opera company in Montclair. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE HERE or by mailing a check to 32 Cloverhill Place, Montclair, NJ 07042.
